McNair Middle Magnet School of Performing Arts,
Gifted/Accelerated, Math/Science and Technology

Arts and intellect intersect at McNair empowering students to show what they know. Learning core curriculum through the arts allows students to express themselves as they discover and enjoy their talents in Drama, Creative Movement, Music, Art and Technology. For students drawn to the Visual and Performing Arts, Science and Technology, or for those in search of accelerated learning, McNair captures their imaginations and motivates creative thinking.

The School of Performing Arts offers dance instruction by a professional dance consultant in a new dance studio with sprung wood floor and mirrors. Students take daily dance classes that explore the genres of jazz, ballet, tap, modern and hip-hop style dancing. Student dancers also may want to audition for the McNair Performing Dance Company. In Drama classes, students learn acting technique, styles and how to write their own sketches. Musical Theater students perform in musicals or choose to participate behind the scenes with new theatrical equipment. Piano/Keyboarding, band and orchestra also form the performing arts program. Students in orchestra receive expert instruction from a strings consultant who visits weekly. For those students who love to work with their hands, our Visual Art class offers painting, drawing, sculpture, set design and more.

McNair has the only full-time Gifted Student program for middle school in Brevard County. An Accelerated program also provides the intellectual stimulation for advanced students. With both programs, textbooks are optional as students learn core subjects through hands-on projects and interactive learning devices. Gifted and accelerated students learn at a faster pace in a challenging and motivating curriculum taught by certified gifted instructors.

The Math and Science magnet features a myriad of programs from engineering and robotic to Science Olympiad and Science Bowl. Students conduct experiments and research using the latest technology, such as SmartBoards, E-instruction and visual presenters. In Tech lab, students work on computer modules to learn about engineering, computer aided drafting, aeronautics and more.
